The 76.4% in that title is the number that opens nearly every conversation I have about antibacterial shirting. A buyer has seen a wash-test summary somewhere, gets me on the phone, and asks the only question that matters: after twenty home washes, how much of the finish is still doing its job? I won't give you a retention figure off the top of my head, because that belongs on a per-batch lab report and it's yours on request. What I will put in writing is the standard we test against: antibacterial fabric ISO 20743. Everything else in this business is talk.
Where that 76.4% gets decided isn't the label, it's the base cloth. Our antibacterial quality, C1001, sits on long-staple cotton: yarn counts from 40 up to 200, weights of 100 to 200 g/sqm, cut at 140-150 cm, finished to DP3.5 non-iron. That last part matters more than people think. A finish sprayed onto a loose, short-staple poplin abrades away in the first dozen cycles, because the fibre surface itself is shedding. Put the same chemistry on a dense, high-count long-staple weave and it has something to hold onto.
Twenty washes is really a domestic-habit test, not a fabric test. Chlorine bleach, hard water, a hot tumble dry. That combination will eat any finish on any cotton, ours included. Low-temperature wash, no bleach, line dry or low heat, and you give the shirt a fair run. I tell customers this every week: I'd rather they wash properly and keep the performance than chase a bigger number by washing badly and blaming the mill.
So what do I actually stand behind? The C1001 quality, tested as antibacterial fabric ISO 20743, and, this is the part buyers forget, the non-iron, the hand and the drape, all of which have to survive the same twenty washes as the antibacterial function. A shirt that kills bacteria and looks like a rag is not a shirt you reorder. That's why I push the base cloth first and the finish second.
On the commercial side: 1 metre minimum, cut in 0.1 metre increments, and full rolls always price better. 50 m is 95折, 100 m is 9折, 300 m is 85折, freight not included. HKD, FOB, payment before shipment. Lead time is 2 working days, and air freight to the EU or US lands in 3-5 days. Sample books are split by series, each volume carrying every colourway we currently run in that series. There's a nominal book cost, negotiable, and free for long-standing accounts. Samples go out 1-2 working days after you confirm, and business-day enquiries get an answer within 24 hours. We've been at this since 2009, working with 2500-plus partner tailors and shipping 5000 sample books a year, which is exactly why the sampling side moves as fast as it does.
If the 76.4% question is sitting on your desk, send it to me with your wash protocol and I'll come back with the current test documentation instead of a slogan. Start at gianvitomilano.com, and you'll hear from us inside a business day.
